Pardon Me, but Our House is Undressed!

Ahh – Spring is finally here.  We Atlantans are not used to a long, cold winter.  Welcome Spring Fever!

This weekend we experienced the fabulous Spring weather that Atlanta is so well known for.  The daffodils have popped and our little cherry tree is starting to bloom.  Around the city the blooms of the red buds and bradford pears are peaking. I’m finding myself being a bit sentimental about the fact that this will be the last Spring that our daffodils will bloom in this spot.  They sure are going out with a beautiful bang!

Back of House 3.10And while the flowers are popping, so is the wood from the house!  Apparently we can’t go through dumpsters fast enough. The demo crew are taking off more and more from the back of our home.  Now that I’ve seen it for the past couple of weeks I’ve become a bit desensitized.  Right now it just seems so far from home – both from time of living in our rental and the fact that half of it is gone.

This is the first of many piles of dirt.  There will be truckloads and truckloads of dirt coming out of the back when they excavate for the cellar.  If anybody you know needs some good ol’ red Georgia clay – hit us up!

The guys still have more demo to do.  The side porch will come off and more of the interior guts will come out Tuesday and Wednesday. Here is what the interior looks like as of 3.10.

Thursday, weather permitting, they will start to dig the big hole and pour the foundation.

I sure do miss sitting out on our front porch. The next few weeks are going to be beautiful with Spring popping so I’ll have to come back and visit daily so I don’t miss a bloom.
