Well – we did it!
What a long and grueling four weeks this has been. It’s been especially grueling with my back. As some of you may know, I have been struggling with major back issues for the last couple of years. These last few weeks have practically broken me – and I’m seriously ready for some R&R. 2015 will be the year that I will finally rid myself of this problem – whether it be holistically or surgically. But despite this bad back and fighting a cold – we did it – with a lot of help from our friends!
We pushed our builder, Ryan, to get us in on time – and he delivered! We all knew we were a little premature getting in, and those first two weeks were pure chaos – with almost 20 people a day working at our home. For those of you that have lived through a renovation – I salute you. I could not imagine living for months will all of those people in and out of my home. I think it’s got to be worse than living in our little version of hell down the street.
Right after we moved in we had a houseful for Thanksgiving. It really broke in our home just right. Our annual Low Country Boil party on that weekend with friends and neighbors – celebrating, watching football and listening to music – really showed us that we succeeded in building our perfect party pad! Then they all left us and we had a week to get in show-ready condition for the Midtown Neighbors Association Tour of Homes. This was no joke! 3-2-1 blastoff…
Jonathan and I felt like we fought a war yesterday to get ready – but we did it. Doing the tour of homes really provided us with that hard deadline to make it all happen quickly. PHEW! What an amazing feeling it was to hear from folks that came through that we succeeded in creating our dream home. While it’s been a crazy month – we are finally in, settled and ready to relax and enjoy it all – at a slower speed. We still have a few more items to finish – but we are 99% done.
I think I’ll hang out here for a while today…
