Riddle me this

Riddle me this: how do you hide a piece of drywall that wasn’t supposed to be there? With a wall-mounted riddling rack, of course. It feels great to turn problems into solutions – especially cool solutions (that we would have never thought of if there weren’t a problem).  Turns out we’re actually pretty psyched about this now.  We’ve had an antique riddling rack for years in our dining room, but never thought of them for the cellar. This type of rack is wall-mounted (like the one pictured above) and will offer both form and function to our cellar space. I love when that happens! We measured and will be able to order 5 equal panels to cover one entire wall.  Bye bye drywall mistake and hello cool and functional wine storage. I’m going to try and keep this mindset up. I’ll have another glass of lemonade please!...

We’re baaaaaaack!   (is it bad that I want to go rigth back on vacation?!) The house has been progressing along. The exterior has received its first coat of paint. It finally looks like it’s a whole home now. We have successfully completed the plumbing, electrical and framing inspections. Insulation went in on Friday/Saturday. The insulation inspection is this Tuesday and is the last of this round of inspections. Then the drywall starts. And, our nifty new doors have been installed in the lounge.   Check out the video here.    I’m really loving this feature! And found this.  I love that our house has this little extra, special blessing...

Manifolds, Pipes & Lights…

Phew – my head is spinning.  Big time. I’ve learned a lot about construction. One thing I’ve learned is that I don’t want to do it again. I didn’t quite expect the constant need for decisions. All of the time. Anxiety comes along with all these decisions. Getting the little things right has always been a big thing in my book. Vacation is right around the corner. The pressure is on. Gearing up for vacation has been quite the feat. When we get back, the drywall will be finished. Because of this, we’ve been scurrying to make sure that every outlet, light, speaker, etc… is in the right place. Decision after decision after decision. A lot has happened over the last two weeks. We got word that our oven has left the factory in France and is on the boat. We’ll be passing her in the Atlantic.  Because of the size, we had to order a custom hood,...
